This young patient presented to our office somewhat embarassed and very self-conscious about her smile.She had been told by other dentists and orthodontists that she would need braces and orthognathic surgery to correct certain congenital and developmental defects that had affected the appearance of her teeth and certain bite and occlusion functions of her jaw. Cosmetically, she especially didn't like the large space between her front teeth and her upper teeth that were protruding, creating somewhat of an overbite. Our patient's goal was reasonable... yet complex. She simply wanted to have a nice smile. Exploring Orthodontic Treatment AlternativesA great looking smile.... but without the traditional orthodontics and other procedures that had been recommended by other doctors in the past. The patient was keenly interested in sitting down with Dr. Salivonchik to explore available options for straightening her teeth without the requirement of cumbersome metal braces and long term treatment.
Dr. Salivonchik developed a choice of treatment plans that were very appealing for the patient.For her particular interests, she selected a plan that would incorporate Invisalign Technologies to manage the extreme gap and other alignment issues. Selective use of custom porcelain veneers were used to create the cosmetic result she had in mind. An immediate load dental implant was also performed, providing the ideal and permanent replacement of a old baby tooth that was retained by Mother Nature (not uncommon for adults). The Invisalign system was used to close the large gap between her two front teeth. This gap was too large for veneer treatment initially. In addition, the invisible braces corrected some minor rotational issues with certain teeth. 
Invisalign Success StoryAs predicted, the Invisalign braces performed well... closing the severe gap and re-positioning her teeth in a healthy alignment.The adjacent occlusal photo, a reflected image of her upper teeth (arch) in a mirror, readily shows the ideal positioning of the patients teeth and healthy maintenance of the bite relationship. The open space, left from the extraction of the baby tooth was now ready for an immediate load implant. At the patients request, a same-day temporary crown was placed so she would not have to go without a tooth.
